This Privacy Policy explains how FreeCalculator (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit freecalculator.co.uk (the “Site”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@freecalculator.co.uk.
The short version
- Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you enter are not sent to us or stored on our servers.
- By default we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics.
- Cookies for advertising (Google AdSense) and detailed analytics (Google Analytics) only load after you consent via our cookie banner.
- You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, and you have full rights over your data under UK GDPR.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to respond to you.
Calculator inputs
Any numbers you enter into our calculators (salary, mortgage amount, etc.) are processed locally in your browser to show your results. We do not transmit, log or store these inputs.
Information collected automatically
When you visit, certain technical data may be processed:
- Server & security data: our hosting and content delivery provider (Cloudflare) processes limited technical information such as IP address and request data to deliver the Site securely and prevent abuse.
- Analytics & advertising data: where you consent, cookies and similar technologies collect usage and ad-related data (see below).
Cookies and consent
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. When you first visit, a consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. We implement Google Consent Mode v2: until you accept, advertising and analytics storage are set to “denied”, and Google’s tags respect that choice. A small record of your consent choice is stored in your browser so we don’t ask again on every page.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to display advertising, which helps keep our calculators free. When advertising is enabled and you have consented:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the internet.
- For visitors in the UK and EEA, we use Consent Mode so that, without your consent, any ads shown are non-personalised (based on general context, not your browsing history).
You can control advertising cookies in several ways:
- Opt out of personalised advertising by Google via Google Ads Settings.
- Opt out of third-party vendor cookies via aboutads.info or Your Online Choices.

Analytics
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — a cookieless, privacy-first service that gives us aggregate visit statistics without tracking you across sites. It does not use cookies or fingerprinting and may run without consent as it does not store data on your device.
- Google Analytics 4 — loaded only after you consent, via a web worker, with IP anonymisation enabled. It helps us understand which calculators are useful so we can improve them.
Affiliate links
Some pages may contain affiliate links to third-party providers. If you click one and take out a product, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are clearly labelled as advertiser disclosures. We only process the click as part of the third party’s own tracking, and you should review that provider’s privacy policy.
Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)
- Consent — for advertising and analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for keeping the Site secure, preventing abuse and understanding aggregate, non-identifying usage.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.
Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that make the Site work — principally Google (advertising and analytics) and Cloudflare (hosting, delivery and security). These providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States; where they do, they rely on safeguards such as the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Data retention
We keep email correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Analytics and advertising data are retained by Google and Cloudflare according to their own retention policies. Your consent preference remains in your browser until you clear it or change your choice.
Your choices and rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent for cookies at any time.

Security
The Site is served over HTTPS and hosted on a reputable, security-focused platform. While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect any information processed.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, make it clear on the Site.
